Nightlife Guide to Hull Stag Weekends
You might be surprised to know that Hull’s nightlife is a buzzing and vibrant selection of bars, pubs and clubs just waiting for you to celebrate in. To make your life a little easier, we’ve broken the city down into some top areas to party.
City Centre
When you’re travelling to a new and exciting city, usually the first point of contact is in the city centre, and Hull’s central nightlife does not disappoint! Firstly, it’s home to the infamous ATIK nightclub. A multi-story club that boasts different music and a lot of atmosphere, a lot of parties wind up ending the night here before stumbling to a kebab shop.
Just around the corner from ATIK you’ll find a number of bars that you can choose from depending on your tastes. If you’d like a chilled atmosphere with great craft ales and a lot of character, The Mission is a bury pub with open arms. If you prefer the classic night filled with low priced booze and pranks, Steinbeck and Shaw is calling your name!
Old Town
The Old Town is on the outskirts of Hull just off the Humber and is packed full of history. Along with some amazing pubs and bars of course, which is what makes it such a good area to head to during the night out. Ye Olde White Harte is a pub that was originally built in 1550 and is a great place to head, or Telstar Bar, known for its great priced beers and casual atmosphere.
Princes Avenue
Sometimes, just one long street bursting with bars is the easiest way to navigate after dark, especially if you’ve got your beer goggles on. Princes Avenue features bars like Garbutts Bar, a trendier option that offer ample seating and a beer garden for outside. Move a little further down the road and you’ll come across Bowery, a classic pub that’s had a makeover in recent years both in looks plus food and drink. With comfy sofa seating and drinks served until late, you can’t go wrong!
If you’re groom to be is a veteran beer drinker, the only place to take him is 8 Days Bierhaus. This place has widened their collection of beers and ales over the years to bring you a flavour for everyone, with an inviting front and great tastes awaiting. For something more classic, the popular Pearsons Bar will make you feel at home while having a few pints.
Reasons to Visit
It’s History
Hull was the second most war-damaged city in the UK after London from WWII and throughout the city you can find so many places to learn about all of its history from WWII and earlier.
It Won’t Burn a Hole in Your Pocket!
Luckily for you, Hull is extremely affordable, and you will be able to enjoy all that it has to offer without going overboard with your budgets!
White Phone Boxes
Yes, that’s right, you won’t find any red phone boxes here. Hull’s proud municipal history and independence is symbolised by these unique phone boxes.
Museum Quarter
Hull has an incredible number of free museums for you to go and enjoy. Whether you are after learning about the local history, street life or some art.
100s of Activities
You won’t run short of amazing activities to enjoy during your trip to Hull. In fact you will find something for everyone here!
More Things to Do
Hull is an extremely interesting city and there is so many different things to do during your stay here. Whether your after something whilst your waiting for the next activity to begin or you just want to see what Hull has to offer you and the lads will be able to keep busy.
Enjoy a short 10 minute drive out of the city centre to The Humber Bridge. It held the world record for the longest suspension bridge and kept the title for 16 years! Even so it is still an impressive sight to see! Speaking of bridges, the Scale Lane Bridge is another pretty impressive creation!
Getting Around Hull
Like most UK cities, Hull offers the standard transport when you in the city, which is a huge perk of not going abroad for your party – no confusing signs and languages you can’t understand! If none of your group fancy being the designated driver for the weekend (who can blame you), then your best bet during the day is to walk around the city centre.
Most points of interest, restaurants, pubs and shops are located in places like the St Stephen’s shopping centre. When night falls, cut the stress and just order a big minibus for your group to get to and from the accommodation, this is a cheap way to get around if you’re splitting the cost between the group.
