Places to Eat in Cheltenham
What’s great about Cheltenham is that it brilliantly combines the fancy with the lovable (but not so fancy) foot outlets. Greasy kebab anyone? There’s a wide range of places to eat to suit all taste buds and budgets with British favourites and more exotic dishes from afar. If you want to full-on wine and dine in class then Lumiere serve contemporary British meals with a twist within the smart Regency district. Alternatively, two luxury French eateries, L’Artisan and Le Champignon Sauvage, can be found in town and serve authentic meals from across the English Channel. The latter has even won a Michelin star!
If you’re on a medium-low budget for food then there’s just as much choice. The Daffodil is an art deco themed brasserie that serves seasonal British meals with live jazz bands playing in the background. Kibou Sushi is the top choice to go if you’re into that stuff and there’s also Bhoomi Kitchen if you’re the kind of guys that prefer your curries and naan breads. Plenty of traditional pubs sell delicious grub across town like The Beehive or Tailors. There’s also two McDonalds in town if you’re craving a Big Mac after your crazy drunken night out and, if all else fails, plenty of kebab shops.

Nightlife Guide to Cheltenham Stag Weekends
Since Cheltenham has had a long history as depicted in it’s stunning buildings, you can count on there being loads of traditional pubs to go and pop your heads into. As a quaint town, there’s pockets of chilled out vibes along with a wild nightlife scene at modern quirky bars so you can have the best of both worlds.
Pubs
Since Cheltenham dates back to as early as the dark ages, you can count on it having loads of old pubs encased in grand old buildings. Cosy taverns serving the locals come in many, each with their own quirky character yet each and every one having the Great British pub vibe we all know and love. Filled with dark wood and original features, The Vine is everything you could ever want. Located on the high street and with the appearance of an old London pub with its red bricks, it’s certainly easy to find. Expect lots and lots of appetising real ales!
Beer is a man’s best friend especially on a night out so heading over to The Kemble Brewery Inn is a logical choice. This welcoming watering hole has endless cask ales and draught lagers to pick from and there’s even an enclosed beer garden to the rear with plenty of seating to sit your crew down for quality banter. The atmosphere is relaxed with delicious fresh food served around the clock, what’s not to love?
For a more “rowdy” scene then head on over to The Beehive, one of the most popular pubs in town! Snug but full of energy, it’s a great place to be sociable with your group and tuck into some delicious pub grub to be washed down with some ale. Other top traditional pubs to visit on your epic Cheltenham bar crawl include the Jolly Brewmaster and The Old Courthouse. If you’d prefer to poke your noses into more modern, spacious pubs then Brewhouse is always a good choice and is also a recognised brand you can count on. The Frog & Fiddle has 14 TV screens to watch live sport on, pool tables, live music all accompanied by great food, beers, ciders and lively atmosphere.
Overall, Cheltenham is sure to have what you’re looking for, whether it’s a modern classy venue serving some top-notch IPA’s or cosy traditional pubs with a welcoming atmosphere for groups of chilled lads.
Bars
Something Cheltenham does SO right is the choice of nightlife bars scattered across town. Whatever kind of drink tickles your taste buds, it’s guaranteed there will be a bar waiting to accommodate you and your fellow lads. Starting off with the budget bars is Yates’, a nationwide favourite that can be found right in the centre of town. Filled with booze and like-minded party-goers, Yates is a spacious and modern venue that sells all your favourite lagers, ciders and spirits without breaking the bank. We don’t know how they do it! Another great bar that is a great wallet pleaser is Soho, yet another UK favourite. This dimly-lit bar is somewhere between cosy and energetic and serves all your alcoholic favourites all day long.
Moving up a tier is Revolution, unsurprisingly another nationwide chain. Located down Clarence Parade, you can expect a modern venue with amazing food and drink. Prices are great as with the choices, there’s loads of spirits and beers to try out. This bar is always thriving which says it all, don’t you think? Bar 50 is perfect for smaller groups but can get a little cramped if there’s a lot of you so instead opt for a large venue like The Apartment Bar which also has more of a party atmosphere compared to the chilled-out Bar 50.
All Bar One is another famous chain that has taken the country by storm which is why it’s definitely worth a visit. Prices are little steeper than those previously mentioned but it’s a classier venue in terms of the stylish décor and comfortable seating inside. There’s tonnes of beer choices, cocktails and spirits, whatever floats your boat really.
Nightclubs
After you hits the pubs and bars it’s probably off to the nightclub with you, like true last night of freedom fashion. There’s two stand-out clubs in Cheltenham that are guaranteed to serve you and your group a wild night. MooMoo Clubrooms is everything you’d expect from a club and is a great mixing pot of all ages from students to cougars. Expect head banging tunes, flashy light displays and cheap shots all night long. If you want cheap and cheerful with a night full of laughs in a nice environment, then this place offers it all. There’s 3 distinct rooms with RnB themed Zinc which is home to sleek leather furniture, Aura which houses a stage and Pop Us is a comic themed bar which plays plenty of bangers from the past few decades.
Next on the list is Bar Fever, the ultimate adult playground blasting out all the best hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s. There’s a huge disco style dance floor, beach themed room complete with booths and a bar. Opening at 10pm and closing 5am on Fridays (6am Saturdays), it’s the place to be to spend your last night of freedom.
Reasons to Visit
The Festivals
Cheltenham is known as ‘The Festival Town’ as it holds over 25 large-scale and renowned events each year which includes the Music Festival and Jazz Festival.
Explore the Regency Era
Cheltenham is the most complete regency town in the country with stunning Georgian architecture dating back to the early 19th century to stare at and appreciate.
The Cotswolds
Probably one of the most beautiful places in England, there’s so many outdoor adventures to be had and so many activities to take part in.
The Brewery Quarter
Take advantage of the huge entertainment complex by watching a movie, doing some shopping, playing some mini-golf and bowling before having some food and drinks with the lads.
The Magners Cheltenham Gold Cup
A great excuse to attend somewhere suited and booted and get merry, pay a visit to Cheltenham during the Gold Cup and watch the exciting horse racing Gold Cup.
More Things to Do
Cheltenham as we know it today was built around a large natural spring which means its fantastic place to spend the day at the spa if you wanted to relax in style. If you want to get wet but don’t want to sit around doing nothing, then visiting one of the largest swimming pools in the country at Sandford Parks Lido is another great option if you want a splash around. If even that doesn’t excite you enough then there’s a shooting school where you can fire real guns in the middle of the Cotwolds. If you’re a bunch of petrolheads, then you could always pop to see the Prescott Speed Hill Climb and watch as classic cars and bikes race around the track.
Getting Around Cheltenham
Since Cheltenham is a town, everything should be in easy reach from one place to another. The high street is pedestrianised meaning all the shops, bars and restaurants are within good distance of each other. A beautiful tree-lined promenade leads from the high street to the Montpellier sector of town and makes walking a treat. Of course, there’s an excellent bus service ran by Stagecoach which is punctual yet affordable alongside plenty of taxis.
