2. Concert Square
Okay so technically Concert Square isn’t one venue with a beer garden – it’s 2! The party city has really leaned into the night-time antics with a central square dedicated to fun after dark. The 2 surrounding bars that serve drinks and music to the concert square beer garden are Modo and Soho. They also provide shisha pipes and drink offers, with umbrella coverings if you need a bit of shade from the heat. This beer garden also gives you effortlessly access to other popular venues including Einstein, McCooleys, Coyote Ugly and the nightclub Fusion.
3. Red Door
Sleek and sophisticated, Red Door is a chain of bars known for the low lighting and sexy mood. The bar prides itself on great quality drinks from expert mixologist, so pair that with their impressive Liverpool beer garden and you’re onto a winner. Red Door’s beer garden is more of a haven away from the sun, with a permanent cover and comfortable seating sheltered away from the rays. Still, if the weather is warm it’s a great place to indulge in a quality cocktail and enjoy a light breeze!
4. The Merchant
The Merchant is a hugely popular space with the younger crowds such as students, but there’s enough room for everyone to enjoy a pint or two! Punters can file out into the back outdoor space and find a seat at several picnic benches around this Liverpool beer garden. The walls are original stone and brick for an urban feel, with mural painted windows that add an edge to the décor. The industrial feel and large space makes for a great, all-inclusive atmosphere on weekends.
5. The Peacock
One of the top venues on Seel Street, if you’re looking for a great, central beer garden in Liverpool this is the place. Similar to concert square, The Peacock’s beer garden is spread across the front of the venue and perfect for people watching. The space gets an ideal amount of sun during the day creating an excellent day drinking spot with your pals. On top of that, there’s always lunch and drinks offers if you want to save a few quid while also enjoying the nice weather in the summer months.
6. Botanical Garden
If you’ve ever been to this North West city, you’ll know about the allure of the Baltic Triangle. This area is a hub for socialisation with a variety of food and drink vendors in the city centre. The Botanical Garden serves as the outdoor space for this area, offering a superb place to drink and dance when it’s nice out. The Botanical Gardens are different to other beer gardens in Liverpool as the drinks can be supplied from a variety of different pop-up venues.
7. Dovedale Towers (The Dovey)
Dripping in The Beatles heritage, Dove Towers is situated on THE Penny Lane in a brew house venue. This is a local venue that crowds flock to when a football match or other event is taking place, creating a buzzing atmosphere. This Liverpool beer garden is pretty sizable, and neatly laid out with rows of picnic benches to lounge on. There are hardly any buildings surrounding this outdoor space so you can lap up the sun from all angles!
8. Ye Cracke
If you’ve come to this guide to find a proper, traditional British beer garden you’re in look here. Ye Cracke is one of the oldest pubs in the city, and famed for being John Lennon’s favourite watering hole before he was super famous. With it’s popularity, Ye Cracke has kept a special little beer garden pruned and proper out back. This space is a hidden gem, surrounded by low walls with plenty of wildlife to snuggle in between. If you want a draft pint in the sun, head to Ye Cracke on Rice Street.
9. Moloko

Moloko have reinvented the idea of a lockdown by basically bringing their whole bar vibe outdoors. This venue has a fully fledged space with tables, fake plants and music where you can get a breath of fresh air and some sun time. Even if it’s a little chilly, this well-thought out space has coverings to keep you warm when the night closes in. They have a fab selection of weird and wonderful cocktails to try, plus the classic beers on offer too.
10. Matou
If you walked past Matou, you might miss it as it’s amongst a lot of other fabulous buildings overlooking the river. Although technically not a beer “garden” in Liverpool, the roof terrace is a great swap with fantastic views of the city. With no buildings to block the view, this also means a great sun trap to have a few drinks in the warmth of the summer. This type of outdoor space is more upscale, so take the opportunity to dress up and do some day drinking in this beer garden in Liverpool.
11. Dockleaf
Dockleaf is found in the vibrant Baltic Triangle and describes itself as having the “heart of a cocktail bar and soul of a pub”. Sounds pretty good, right? Featuring another roof terrace style space, Dockleaf have taken full advantage of the building having an old laboratory and kept a lot of the edgy, weird and wonder details. This beer garden in Liverpool is filled with plants and little tables so you have a chat with your loved ones over a cocktail or pint of the cold stuff.
