You won’t be stuck for choices when it comes to places to eat in Benalmadena, it just depends where you are in the town. If you’re hanging around the Puerto Marina area and need a bite to eat with a view, might we suggest the epic Jacks American Brasserie to please every kind of taste bud. This American style restaurant is chic and stylish inside and offers a revamped menu of classic like burgers, hotdogs and more. For all the meat lovers out there on the hunt for some juicy steak, nowhere does it better in the marina than Angus Steakhouse. With a steak on your plate and a view of the marina, how could anyone be unhappy?

If you find yourself on the beach with a grumbling stomach, there’s plenty of restaurants and café’s that line the sand waiting to feed you. For extra large groups of giggling girls, we suggest trying something new at Restaurante La Sirena. Here they serve Mediterranean-style dishes with a Spanish flare that will tantalise your palette. However, if you’ve come to Spain specifically for the country’s famed tapas, you’ll find that at FAMA Tapas Bar. This little hole in the wall might not be modern, but they serve outstanding tapas dishes that gives you an idea of local cuisine.

As mentioned previously, everyone knows that Spain is world-renowned for it’s tapas. However, every town and city has a different take on tapas from around the country. Benalmadena and Malaga join together for the tradition of Gambas al Pil-Pil, translating to flash-fried prawns served with spices, chillies and white wine on crispy bread. Seafood is a main theme on the Southern coast of Spain, and the smell of Espeto will follow you throughout Benalmadena. Espeto refers to delicious barbecued sardines, freshly caught and ready to eat.

The Puerto Marina

The Paza de Solymar is the best place for cheap prices and late night partying, but if you’d rather something a little more upscale with stunning views then The Puerto Marina might be a better fit. Surrounded by expensive yachts and busy restaurants, the bars in this area offer top quality drinks and great service for a tipsy last night of freedom. One of the most popular bars in this area is Kaleido Puerto Marina. Also serving food, this venue has ample seating for large groups of giggling girls and an extensive menu packed with colourful cocktails.

For a more authentic atmosphere that’s slightly less expensive, head over to the lounge-like Brezo’s bar. Covered in cream interior with comfortable seating, they serve incredible milkshakes by day and equally as good cocktails by night so you can visit both times! Another lounge style bar that prides itself on a circular bar and funky cocktails is Los Brothers, which doesn’t get as busy as most other places while still keeping the same high quality as the rest of the Marina. Alternatively, just around the corner you can catch up on sports and get rowdy in the Wild West style Mombasa Sports and party bar which is open until late on summery weekends.

If you’re looking for some unique bars and pubs to visit and make the weekend is one to remember, there’s plenty of options for that too! At the Marina you will find the only ice bar in Benalmadena. Boal’s Ice Bar serves sub-zero temperatures inside with a nice outdoor area to enjoy your drinks without freezing! And last but by no means least. Joy’s Disco Karaoke provides all the girls an opportunity to sing their heart out until 6am every single day of the week.

Nightclubs in Benalmadena

Late night partying is what Benalmadena does best, and you can find a surprising number of nightclubs dotted around the town and surrounding area of Costa del Sol. Sticking with the Marina area, here you’ll find Sala Caramelo that’s exclusively open on Saturdays. One thing to note is nightlife in Benalmadena (and Spain as a whole) is that venues open late and close early! Sala Caramelo starts the party at midnight and doesn’t close until 7am! If you’re looking to celebrate on any other day than Saturday, don’t fret. Forever Beach Club is the total opposite of Sal Caramelo in that the nightclub is open 24 hours a day, every day, 7 days a week.

If you want to venture outside of the Puerto Marina, there’s plenty of nightlife options all around the town too. BOA VIP Club is where you could find yourself at the weekend, enjoying entertainers and performers, smoke machines and bright lights while you dance until you drop. One of the largest clubs in Costa del Sol, this venue has 2 different rooms creating an entirely unique experience of sound, music and VIP exclusivity. Dare to adventure on the outskirts of Benalmadena altogether and you’ll be treated to Octan club, technically making it’s home in Malaga. If you’re craving live DJ sets, dancing and drink deals for the last night of freedom this is the place for you.

Plaza de Solymar

Plaza de Solymar, more frequently known as the 24-hour Square, is exactly what it says on the tin. This cubby hole of nightlife is booming from sunset to sunrise and provides the perfect place to dip in and out of bars without breaking the bank. Most famously, the square is home to the hugely popular Molly Malone’s bar. Boasting an Irish pub exterior and friendly interior, this venue is more than just Guinness on tap. You can dance until dusk, drink pink gin by the bucket and electric DJ sets inside. Right next door you’ll find the more modern Mango’s nightclub, which will welcome the girls with neon lights and a spacious dance floor to bust some moves!

For more pub vibes, you can find St Andrews pub across the way on the 24-hour square. Similar to Molly Malone’s, this venue poses as a traditional Irish golfing pub with cosy interior, screens for sports and incredible drinks deals that makes it the perfect place to start the night. On the opposite end of the spectrum you can find dancing and disco at Jules bar and a more modern design at Linekers just next door. And when you finish the night? Get some greasy grub just round the corner at a whole host of burger and kebabs shops open until late.

How to Get Around Benalmadena?

When you’re ticking off your checklist for the weekend away, make sure you get clued up on the transport available around Benalmadena before you find yourself there. The nearest airport is Malaga airport, just a 20-minute drive away from the town with constant transfers, buses and taxis running to and from for your ease. If you haven’t booked your transfers yet, we suggest you prioritise that and take the weight off your shoulders! While you’re in the Costa del Sol, you have the convenience of Spain’s extensive bus network at your disposal.

The Spanish southern coast is known for it’s excellent bus facilities, providing cheap and easy travel all day every day. If you’re going to Benalmadena for a weekend or longer, you can save a lot of money by buying a travel card. These cards are swiped on machines to price your journey, and you just top them up whenever you like. Once you’re comfortably in the town, you can let go off any transport and explore everything by foot if you like. The compact town has everything you need at your disposal, and you might even find some hidden gems along the way!
