Where Are the Places to Eat in Berlin?

Germany is a country known for its food and as the capital Berlin definitely lives up to this. This city offers amazing dishes which reflect the culture and the city itself. When in Berlin you have to try their local cuisine such as tasty Pretzels treats and meaty Currywurst hot dogs made with curry powder and ketchup.

As for places to eat in Berlin, you’ve got a treasure trove of restaurants and hidden gems to choose from – so much that you might need to come back for a second visit! For a quick on-the-go snack, get in the queue at Zeit für Brot for the most indulgent cinnamon buns in the whole of the capital. For a taste of history and local cuisine, head to Zur Letxten Instanz – the oldest restaurant in Berlin dating back to 1621!

The star of the show all around Germany has got to be their bratwurst and currywurst as mentioned above. For hangover food, a takeaway between activities or just a taste of Germany, it wouldn’t be a lads trip to Berlin without visiting Curry 36. Lastly, for something sweet after all that salty goodness we highly suggest you find yourself some Berliner Pfannkuche, aka a delicious deep-fried pastry coated in icing sugar and filled with a variation of jam, vanilla cream of chocolate.

Oranienstraße

First up we’re visiting Oranienstraße, because this is probably the most vibrant and memorable area of the 3 major nightlife spots in the German capital. Here, you’ll find a lively atmosphere day and night, but after dark is when Oranienstraße truly opens up and welcomes all groups, big or small!

Through narrow alleyways you’ll find pubs and bars spilling out into the street with neat tables and chairs to enjoy a few drinks before you hit the major clubs in Moritzplatz. One hugely popular bar perfect for a night out is Bar39, a quirky yet classic German bar that curates it’s own heavenly drinks. Open until 2am, you’d could find yourself quickly losing time in this buzzing venue.

For a more stripped back vibe, head to Café Luzia where you can enjoy simplistic décor and live music events all throughout the year – a great bar to kick off the evening with something a bit different. Similarly you can find a edgy and grunge like atmosphere at Franken Bar, which has been drawing in punters since it arrived to Oranienstraße.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a true night without stumbling to a nightclub as the grand finale of your drunken night. In Oranienstraße you have a few options for late night drinking. Want to drink until 10am the next day? Ritter Butzke is the place to go! Alternatively, for something epic and memorable, try the impressive Tresor nightclub for 3 floors of techno heaven.

Wrangelstraße

Also known as Wrangelkiez, this area of Berlin is the only chance you’ll get to party beside the River Spree, granting great views to make the last night of freedom one to remember. All of the venues make the most of the river with large windows, and even some bars like the Lido, a laid-back hotspot known for being one of Berlin’s oldest and best nightclubs, use a play on words to draw you in!

To begin your night is a laid-back style, the best place for you is Hopfenreich on Sorauer Street. Open earlier than the rest and buzzing until 2am, this chilled-out venue is a great boozer to get your first few rounds in. For something unique, visit the former brothel and now Madame Claude bar for some topsy turvy décor and live music events throughout the weeks.

Last but by no means least, probably the most famous nightclub in the whole city is the iconic Watergate club. If you’re looking for a venue to impress, this riverside nightclub is the perfect hotspot after dark. Complete with floor to ceiling windows and international DJ’s, your jaws will drop lads.

Warschauer Straße

Finally, it would only be fair to mention Warschauer Straße! A major street that was renovated during the Cold War and quickly became a symbol of the Communist way of life, this Friedrichshain street has made the area into one of the most desirable neighbourhoods in the city, with a huge influence of cultures, music and art making it one of the hippest places to be in Berlin. With three huge super-clubs within a stones’ throw from each other, AVA CLUB, Matrix and DIE BUSCHE are the places to go if you and the lads are looking for that classic nightlife experience where you can dance the night away until the sun comes up!

Before you hit the big clubs, however, you may want to consider some other options in the area! For example, at the top end of the street is the brilliantly vibrant and exciting Monster Ronson’s Ichiban Karaoke bar. With a variety of different themed nights depending on the day of the week and open until the very early hours of the morning, you and the lads can exercise your vocal chords here if you’re up for the challenge!

How to Get Around Berlin

Berlin as a whole has a relaxed vibe with lots of open spaces. There isn’t a greener city in Germany than Berlin with all its forests, lakes and parks. This laid-back way of life runs throughout the city, however the transport links offer tight and reliable traversing around the city centre and beyond.

The city is fully aware that people in Berlin are awake at all ours and has transport to accommodate those late night party goers and early morning risers. The U-Bahn lines run all throughout the night on weekends, going every 15 minutes for your convenience. Alternatively, catch a night bus between 12:30am and 4am to get you where you need to go.
